Professional Development

Pine Jog Environmental Education Center provides professional development workshops and summer institutes for teachers and environmental educators.

Two summer institutes will be offered this summer for School District of Palm Beach County teachers. Both institutes focus hands-on science inquiry, effective planning for integrated science instruction, strategies for science and literacy success, and community partnerships for enhancing science.


Focus on Science: K-2 A Four-Day Summer Institute
June 8-11, 2009
8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
The institute sessions will focus on:
  • Hands-on science inquiry
  • Strategies for integrating science and language arts literacy

Focus on Science: 3-5 A Four-Day Summer Institute
June 15-18, 2009
8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
This institute sessions will focus on:
  • Lesson plan development that combines hands-on science inquiry with read-aloud children’s literature
