STAFF POSITIONS
The EYCC fosters awareness, appreciation and concern for Florida’s wildlife and
environment through outdoor recreation and environmental education in a
residential setting. All of our programs focus on environmental issues relating
to South Florida. Staff must be available from June 8th to August 8th. Staff is
provided a competitive salary, housing and meals for the whole camp period.
The positions available are listed. Each position requires a specific amount of
training and development. Please indicate on your application which position(s)
best suits your skills and interest level. If you wish to apply for a position
for which you do not have the certification for, please contact Chris Hill,
Summer Camp Coordinator, at (561)686-6600 to discuss possible training courses
available prior to camp.
A minimum age requirement of 18 is necessary for the Instructor positions.
Staff must be available to work from June 8th- August 8th.

Canoe Instructor

Provide instruction and supervision for canoeing for all campers. Candidate must
be a canoe instructor or willing to be trained as one.
Lifeguard

Provide supervision for pond swimming for all campers. Must be a certified
Lifeguard
Range Master
(All ages

Provide instruction and supervision on archery range for all campers and
shooting sports for camper sin the Rangers program. Must be a certified Hunter
Safety Instructor or be able to complete one day NADA training course to be
qualified by May 2008
Fishing/ Sports

Provide instruction and supervision at fishing area and sport activities.
Willing to assist with other program areas
GROUP LEADER/ CABIN COUNSELOR: 16 POSITIONS AVAILABLE
Role involves assisting instructors during the day and staying with campers in
the cabins at night. Must facilitate evening activities and manage group through
the night. Group leaders provide a vital role in monitoring the campers at all
times and providing the cohesive structure to a camper’s experience. Group
leaders are housed with up to 16 campers and 2 junior counselors.

change for the training as a direct result of the impact that weather has had on
the academic schedule.
